Guest Speaker: Anthony S. Fauci, MD, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease

Anthony S. Fauci is Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at the NIH, a position he has held since 1984.  In addition to overseeing the NIAID’s extensive research portfolio devoted to preventing, diagnosing, and treating infectious and immune-mediated diseases, Dr. Fauci has made important scientific contributions related to HIV and AIDS in his on-going role as Chief, NIAID Laboratory of  Immunoregulation.   He is one of the most-cited scientists in the field, a member of the National Academy of Sciences, and a recipient of numerous awards including the National Medal of Science, the Mary Woodard Lasker Award for Public Service, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He has received 34 honorary doctoral degrees and is the author, coauthor, or editor of more than 1,100 scientific publications, including several major textbooks.
