SC Homelessness Initiative is a student service organization looking for members and project leaders to empower the homeless with student-led healthy living workshops (diabetes, cardiovascular health, dental health, nutrition, stress management, and much more) and educational workshops (job readiness and computer skills). SCHI is currently partnered with the non-profit organization Downtown Women’s Center and as a Project Leader you will have the opportunity to coordinate the development of health and education workshop curriculum in any area of your choice.
In addition, other service opportunities include raising awareness of poverty among local high school students through the Solutions Exist campaign, fun activities with homeless children at School of Wheels, and educational trips to the Natural History Museum with children living in poverty through the Children's Nature Institute.
If you are interested in receiving more information about SCHI membership/project leader applications, please email us at schinitiative@gmail.com
Attend our upcoming meeting: Wednesday, September 7th at 6:30 PM in VKC 160
We look forward to working with you!
